Research in Motion's take on delivering mobile applications straight to the device, cunningly called BlackBerry App World, has finally opened doors to the public today at the CTIA Wireless 2009 in Las Vegas.

Making a large step from a regular WinMo PocketPC to a heavily armored MID (Mobile Internet Device), Toshiba today launched the TG01 PocketPC. Packed with a 4.1" WVGA screen and measuring only 9.9 mm, the Toshiba TG01 certainly sounds like an impressive device, if not revolutionary.

Nokia have finally set a date for the official release of the 5800 XpressMusic over at the UK. The first S60 touch-enabled phone will start selling through the Finnish company's flagship stores starting from 23 January at SIM-free price of little less than 280 euro (249 GBP).

The nice looking Petrol Black version of Nokia N79 appeared today on the Nokia UK store web page. It's available in a so-called Nokia N79 Eco pack. What makes it “Eco” is the lack of a charger. While that sounds like a strange lind of eco-friendly initiative, it actually isn't.

The European Commission is considering taxes on some mobile phones equipped with GPS and/or TV receivers. The idea is for fat-on-features handsets to be treated as multifunctional devices rather than mere phones, thus making them liable for import duties ranging from 3 to 14 percent.
